Job Title: SAP Architect

The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is seeking a Senior SAP Architect contractor for an approximately 12 month engagement.  The SAP Architect will be responsible for providing a comprehensive system support for the NCDOT Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system utilizing SAP software.  The fiscal accountability and management of DOT's diverse activities is extremely complex and requires a robust business system that will provide meaningful, accurate, and timely information for the various needs of public/private end users, the Federal and State government and departmental and administrative requirements. The complexity of these businesses requires an expertly managed and staffed support team.  This support team is responsible for ensuring the users of these systems can competently perform their jobs and have reached their full potential as it relates to the use of the various ERP applications.  This requires a skilled and dedicated team to ensure the on-going operations are not adversely impacted while implementing and integrating new applications in a cost efficient and appropriate manner.
Duties Include:
Specifies and designs large and complex systems (e.g. involving significant team size and interaction, integration with multiple systems, covers multiple business processes or geographic regions). 
Selects appropriate design standards, methods and tools and ensures that they are applied effectively. 
Reviews others' system design to ensure selection of appropriate technology, efficient use of resources and integration of multiple systems and technologies. 
Establishes policy for selection of architecture components. 
Evaluates and undertakes impact analysis on major design options. 
Ensures that the system architecture balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements.
Uses appropriate tools, including logical models of components and interfaces, to contribute to the development of systems architectures. 
Produces detailed component specifications and translates these into detailed designs for implementation using selected products.
Sets standards, strategies and procedures across the development lifecycle in the areas of systems integration and testing and ensures that practitioners adhere to them.

Maintains an in-depth knowledge of specific technical areas and provides expert advice regarding their application. Can supervise specialist technical consultancy.
