Windows Engineer
Location: Valspar, Minneapolis MN
POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsibilities will include planning, implementing, managing core Microsoft and VMware technologies in all geographical regions of Valspar in addition to being a key contributor for internal security defined projects and initiatives. Combines project management, hardware purchase & installations, software research & deployment to serve the business with new IT innovations as well as providing 3rd Line support to all global IT Field Services representatives. Some in-country and overseas travel will be required for this role.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must be proficient in:
Windows 7, 2008, 2012 operating systems
Active Directory all aspects including Group Policy, Sites and Services, Domains and Trusts, Federation Services
DNS, DHCP
Microsoft Exchange 2010
VMware vSphere 5.0 or above
Citrix XenApp 6.0 or above
Blade Servers and enclosures
Storage Solutions (HP EVA, MSA, 3Par, iSCSI, VNX, XtremeIO) including fiber switch configurations
Batch file or .vbs scripting
Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
Symantec Backup Exec 12.5 or above
Project Management
Documentation and Process building
Preferred, although not essential, knowledge of:
Windows 8, 2010 Operating Systems
Lync 2010\Skype for Business Unified Communications
Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012 (SCCM)
Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2012 (SCOM)
Windows Azure cloud platform
Server and Storage Disaster Recovery
Sophos Antivirus
WAN and LAN fundamentals
Digital Guardian Compliance
Websense Triton Security
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
Basic project management and good organizational skills knowledge of Microsoft Project and Project Management certification would be an advantage
Ability to balance workload between multiple projects \ support calls and make good business decisions on priorities
Broad range of technical skills with a solid analytical approach to problem solving
Coordinating activities with functional IT and business group management
Well organized, methodical and calm under pressure
Able to work in all areas of our business, with all departments and at all levels of seniority
Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 5 years experience working with Microsoft Technologies
Minimum of 2 years experience working with VMware Technologies
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
At least MCP certified and working towards MCITP 2008 \ MCSE 2012 accreditation is desired
VMware & Citrix Certification is preferred although not essential
