JOB DESCRIPTION

The software developer will work in a highly motivated team to contribute to application development while using Agile Methods. The individual must be comfortable with TDD, pairing and other extreme programming practices. The individual must have experience in clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity/under-defined problems, advocating for simplification, and influencing teams.  The individual must have a passion to learn new technologies and take pride in developing solutions while championing the agile mindset, automation and mentoring the team in all aspects of XP techniques.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.            Develop efficient and reliable RESTful web services written in Java.

2.            Drive API first backend development for a Reactive Web Design and future mobile applications.

3.            Lead by example in Scrum w/XP practices, writing test firsts and pushing automation.

4.            Ensure quality solutions are derived through collaboration and XP best practices.

5.            Provide meaningful participation in all scrum ceremonies.

7.            Effectively communicate across technical and business resources.

8.            Work with business users to understand business needs with a constant focus on the end customer.

9.            Handle special projects, as requested, in order to meet the changing needs of the corporation and/or business environment and to take advantage of first to market opportunities.

•             6-8 years programming experience in an Agile-Scrum environment w/XP (TDD, Pair Coding, Refactoring, Simple Design); Experience tracking/growing code coverage

•             Prefer experience with project delivery tools such Version One or Jira

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for maturing the DevOps mindset within the agile teams using techniques such as Acceptance Test Driven Development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery to provide quality products with seamless integration across Development, Quality Assurance, Infrastructure, Operations, and Release Management roles.

The successful candidate will be a servant leader who develops and supports a learning organization model through coaching, training, and mentorship. The successful candidate will be one that can adapt as necessary for unintended consequences of this change initiative and one that understands the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team. Blogging and community support are a part of this role.

Candidates will work in a DevOps team environment and are expected to work on both tactical and strategic assignments. Since the team is very young in its adoption of DevOps principles there is still a fair amount of manual maintenance work. Candidates are expected to handle the manual work while figuring out how to automate it.

Required Qualifications:

• 6 years of IT experience on web-based products

• 2 years of experience working on large scale, multiple team projects

• 2 years of experience with Agile methodologies and Test Driven Development.Infrastucture

• 2 years of continuous integration experience (for example tools like Jenkins, Anthill Pro).

• 2 years of experience in at least 1 high level programming language such as Ruby, C, C#, C++ or Java

• 2 years of experience with at least 1 scripting language such as Perl, Python or PowerShell.

• 1 years of experience with programmatic interaction with a relational database, preferably a recent version of PostGres.
