TERM: 10 Months
Seeking an experienced Senior Oracle Data Warehouse Database Administrator to support the Data Warehouse Projects that work with the business analyst to design and implement processes for sourcing data from various internal as well as external sources leveraging Operational Data Store and Data Mart concepts to facilitate timely, reliable and secure delivery of Data driven reports and analytics.
Duties and Responsibilities
• 24*7 support for mission critical production Oracle databases
• Working closely with development team to clearly understand the business applications and databases supporting the applications
• Logical design of the warehouse: schema design, ETL processes, data archival, etc
• Physical design and implementation of the warehouse on Oracle 11G, with clustering
• Knowledge in database replications (Golden Gate or streams)
• Good Knowledge in partitioning and materialized views.
• The Oracle warehouse database administration including monitoring, backup/recovery, performance tuning, changes, and capacity planning, etc.
• Support the ETL group in their efforts to implement and maintain ETL procedures and schedules to ensure the accuracy and timeliness of data in the data warehouse
• Ensure the quality, consistency and security of the data warehouse systems following a defined set of procedures and policies (change control, security procedures, backups, etc).
• Assist report writers in query performance tuning as requested. Help identify inefficient queries and suggest alternatives. Write PL/SQL packages and stored procedures as needed
• Participate in database schema design sessions with other production DBAs to ensure seamless coordination of changes between production databases and data warehouses.
• Actively address business unit requests, clearly communicating commitments, issues, completion dates and status with the requestor and with management.
• Qualifications:
• Minimum 8 years Oracle database experience, with at least 2 years in supporting data warehouse environment
• Must have excellent understanding and skills in relational database modeling
• In-depth knowledge of star and snowflake schemas/dimensional modeling and data warehouse methodology
• Must have hands-on experience in data warehouse schema design and implementation
• Oracle 11G experience is required
• Must have experience in Oracle Warehouse Builder, ODI and OBIEE
• Advanced PL/SQL skills are required
• Demonstrated experience with applying CPUs and Patch Sets
• Demonstrated experience with Unix shell scripting
• Desired experience upgrading from Oracle Warehouse Builder to ODI
• Demonstrated experience involving strong communications skills (written and verbal), proven ability to effectively interact with individuals across multiple teams
• Must be self-motivated, have a strong team orientation, learn quickly
• Strong ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize accordingly
• Strong problem solving/analytical skills
• Must have excellent troubleshooting skills
• Good multi-tasking skills
• Ability to interface with diverse teams
• Ability to analyze data and data relationships
• Ability to translate both business requirements & technical details
• Ability to independently design programs and test plans
• Good organizational skills
• Excellent listening skills
• Ability to maintain a positive attitude while working with high demands and short deadlines
