Application Developer contractor skills needed:
· BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
· At least 5 years experience developing applications for the web
· Java, J2EE
· SOAP, REST, APIs
· Spring, Struts2, Tiles
· Jquery, JavaScript
· Knowledge of mobile application development helpful (iOS, Droid, Windows Mobile)
· Knowledge of agile principles helpful.
· Knowledge of healthcare insurance industry helpful.

This is a contract role for 6+ months
Application Developer -
Required Skills: The ideal candidate will typically have the following:
o Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
o Five to seven years of experience developing and performance tuning complex Java applications
o Demonstrated experience designing, developing and testing SOA web services using WebSphere
o JBOSS and DROOLS experience
o Experience using agile and TDD methodologies
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills
o Experience using Hibernate is a plus
o Experience using MQ is a plus
Within the context of developing automated information systems, the ability to perform the following functions constitutes the minimum responsibility to be performed by a Senior Application Developer:
o For medium to large project efforts, analyze data, identify informational or process requirements/needs, identify problems, provide technical advice or consultation and develop logical solutions to problems.
o Provide leadership and drive change.
o Identify and mitigate risks, escalate issues appropriately.
o Construct detailed design specifications (technical or business) based on business partner requirements.
o Develop data and process modeling to meet business requirements.
o Code programs to meet design specifications.
o Design and construct data conversion, access or retrieval approaches.
Generate and execute test plans for lifecycle stages. Unit test and debug programs as necessary.
o Participate or assist in providing architectural design to meet project needs.
o Define and develop the test and production environment, coordinate the migration of the system, and/or coordinate efforts with other IT projects.
o Adhere to architectural guidelines/standards and delivery discipline processes.
o Document the various computer systems enhancements/modifications or information retrievals/updates and update/create procedures.
o Interact and effectively communicate with business partners and other IT staff. Act as an information resource by providing assistance and support to team members..
o Use estimation techniques to provide estimates, deliver according to your estimates
o Ability to provide on-call production support as needed

Java Developer

For technical skills, I would prioritize the core requirements as:
· Core Java
· Automated testing (JUnit, Fitnesse)
· Java + Database + SQL + JDBC
· Internet Java (Servlets, JSP, webservices)
For non-technical experience, we would like to see high levels of collaboration and experience supporting systems with customers.
We're looking for Java developers who are:
• highly motivated

• extremely talented
• experienced/ have knowledge of JSP's & Servlets (including Request/Response Lifecycle), SQL/Relational databases, and transact-processing systems.
Additional skills desired in this role are:
• UI development skills using JSP, Struts, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript and CSS -- Bonus points for Ajax
• Object Oriented Design skills
• O/R Mapping experience using Spring and Hibernate
• Test Driven Development experience
• Build automation experience using Ant or Maven
• Proficient using version control systems like Subversion
• Experience with Resin (preferred) or Apache or Tomcat
• Experience with DB2 (preferred) or Oracle or MySQL
• Keen interest learning and adapting emerging tools and technologies in the industry
• Unit test framework experience
