SQL Development should be the core competency. But, as a SQL Developer with real-world experience, they will have had some lateral knowledge about the systems they are working with to optimize data flow. They will be only doing development but we will give a higher priority to individuals who have the ability to look outside their box to solve for service solutions and not just deliver code packages.

What we are looking for is a fresh seasoned DBA developer with lots of experience in SQL and MySQL, someone who knows how to tear down big data and create reports from that data and to also help automate processes. Someone who can manage an entire database environment. Self Starter, expectation that this person does not need to have hand held. SR level but willing to accept fast pace change.

3 openings - Initially they will be for each customer (excellent communication skills required) and then I would expect cross training for all customers, each report is a little different for each customer but the same process will have to be followed. We have a huge Big Data initiative for the planned future with lots of opportunity. Think Data Mining..

We are seeking a bright and enthusiastic Database Developer/DBA who can hit the ground running. Our client rapidly expanding our data management and articulation capabilities. As such, there is enormous opportunity for learning, innovating and being involved in the development of new services. We need a hard-working, self-starter with a can-do attitude to join our growing team of systems professionals. You will be part of a core team delivering cutting-edge services to very large business customers and mass-market consumers on a global stage. This role will support an external customer or multiple customers with some custom reporting.

The ideal candidate will have experience in troubleshooting new system environments and leading proposed fixes. They will have an aversion to manual tasks and an instinct for automating repetitive tasks into programs and scripts. They will have a solid foundation in SQL to leverage into MySQL transactional systems, MSSQL and NoSQL (Hadoop, etc.) reporting systems, and overall data transformation. Most importantly, they will be cautiously curious and seek out opportunities for innovation, learning, and responsibility.

Responsibilities:

Software:

: Development with SQL Servers (MySQL v5+ & MSSQL 2008+) and Data Warehouses (Reporting cubes, ETL and managing "Big Data").

: Developing tools and scripts to accomplish specific needs as they come up and to continually improve process quality and efficiency.

: Scripting and automated testing development with programming languages such as C#, Java, C++ (Visual Studio 2010+).

General:

: Monitor system status, activity, and capacity.

: Maintain current server patches including updates for OS and anti-virus signatures.

: Influence engineering instrumentation for collection of useful data points.

: Prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects while remaining detail oriented

: Define, document, and perform system maintenance and diagnostic procedures

: Participate in architecture, capacity planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities

: Maintain up-to-date records of all system assets and licenses

: Monitor ticket tracking system and monitoring systems without supervision.

: Assist in creation and deployment of disaster recovery& business continuity plans.

Qualifications:

Experience, working with large data sets in a high-availability, transactional environment.

Need to have enough breadth to troubleshoot data source issues, system constraints and generally be able to look at the entire "database" environment with an eye to solving the reporting issues and challenges

Experience with NoSQL and unstructured data will be a bonus, but only the desire to learn is required.

Data Mining expereince

Certification or Degree in related field desired

Highly Desired:

Any systems experience listed below:

: Configuration and command line management of Linux (Centos, Red Hat & SUSE) environments.

: Installation, configuration and maintenance of Hypervisor (XenCenter) and ability to manage, inventory and install VMs.

: IP networking as it relates to (virtual) local area networks, work with Network Engineers to troubleshoot advanced network issues.

: Installation of tools and server software (SQL Server, Puppet, RHQ).

: Ability to do capacity management for production systems.

: Maintain current server patches including updates for OS and anti-virus signature
