Job Title: System Administrator
Location: Thousand Oaks, CA
Duration: 6+ months
Job Description:
Reviewing and monitoring power, cooling, space and other capacity metrics and managing appropriate capacity reports.
Providing hardware break/fix and/or diagnostics support and/or associated hands and feet for vendors and/or vendor escort
Perform and/or assist with data center system installs, de-installs and cabling.
Support, coordination, planning and/or oversight of data center shutdown and startup efforts and other data center related maintenance activities.
Manage relationship with, and/or coordinate with data center vendors and/or Facilities focals.
Perform / oversee media rotations (tape or other) as necessary to support backup operations.
Perform data center physical audits and bar coding activities, and network switch/cable labeling.
Perform labeling of power connectors, oversee and/or coordinate data center cleaning activities.
Assist with support, cleaning and/or management of voice-data equipment rooms (VDERs) as needed.
Assist Sr. Systems Administrators in performing rudimentary diagnostic or network connectivity tasks as needed.
Maintain data center drawings using CAD tools, and manage / track all physical assets in the data center management tool.
Assist with and/or provide direct support of SOX reporting in regards to data center access, including the collection and organization of associated supporting objective evidence.
Provide design support and/or SME guidance for data center design, build-out, best practice implementation, configuration and/or other data center specific expertise.
Provide operations reports and/or assist with provide trending information and root cause analysis data.
Provide 24x7 on-call support of production system issues.
Assist with documentation as needed to support various data center processes and/or cross-functional areas.
Interact closely with management, engineers, application resources, Database Administrators, Windows and UNIX Administrators, and Architects to plan and support the environments.
Participate in project and/or capacity management meetings.
Serve as interface for vendor relationship management with respect to equipment and contracts.
Assist with disaster recovery and/or disaster recovery exercises as necessary.
Work with IS staff across the functional areas to facilitate process and tool changes, align execution standards, and communicate changes.
Report on incident trends, process adherence, service performance and metrics.
Qualifications:
Master's degree
OR
Bachelor's degree & 2 years of information systems experience
OR
Associate's degree & 6 years of information systems experience
OR
High school diploma / GED & 8 years of information systems experience.
One or more vendor certifications and/or training and/or competency (AutoCAD, Autodesk, AFCOM, ACM, ITIL) and/or one or more vendor certifications and/or training (Uptime Institute, IDCP).
Extensive data center domain knowledge and/or five (5) or more years experience in supporting and/or managing Data Center Facilities in a corporate enterprise environment.
Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact well with multiple levels of management.
Good technical and analytical skills.
Understanding of, and experience with, ITIL 3.0 best practices and enterprise change control procedures.
Understanding of, and experience with, Sarbanes-Oxley reporting and evidence collection in regards to physical data center access.
Able to organize and schedule tasks, develop realistic action plans, and incorporate time constraints and task priorities.
Ability to take initiative and work with direction of more senior staff or management in a high demand environment.
Works effectively as a team member, works well in a collaborative environment, and leads cross-functional teams.
Excellent Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint skills.
