Detail Job Description:
The SS&P Sr. Java J2EE/Cloud Software Engineer is responsible for application development of both internal Service Center software as well as cloud based software. The candidate will work with Tech Leads, Business Analysts, Quality Assurance Testers and other System professionals. The candidate will be responsible for developing new and upgrading existing software programs. The candidate will also be responsible for trouble shooting and resolving support issues. Essentially the candidate will work in a complete software development lifecycle team of people and is expected to assist in all aspects of the lifecycle as needed.
• Ability to work from business requirements through technical design, development and unit testing.
• Extensive knowledge of Java-based application development technologies and concepts.
• Strong design and implementation skills pertaining to web applications, database design and rich media applications.
• Robust understanding of Object Oriented Programming concepts and design.
• Knowledge of industry-standard application architectures, design patterns, technology standards and best practices.
• Experience in designing and developing highly scalable and maintainable rich internet applications.
• Ability to learn and stay up to date on new technologies and trends.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and reliably deliver work of the highest standards on time.
• Handle tier 3 support, where business consultation and development maybe required.
• Other duties and/or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
.
• 5+ years of experience with Java application development.
• Strong design and implementation skills pertaining to web applications, database design and rich media applications
Technical Skills:
• Strong comprehension of Agile/Scrum methodologies, Software Development Life Cycle and Configuration Management
• Strong comprehension of web services and service oriented architecture
• In-depth knowledge of Core Java, JSPs, Servlets.
• 2+ years of experience with web application frameworks such as Struts 2+.
• 2+ years of experience with Dependency Injection/Inversion Control using Spring 2+ (XML and Java Config).
• 2+ years of experience with Hibernate and other Java ORM tools.
• 2+ years of experience with JAX-WS and JAX-RS implementation.
• Experience working with Oracle 9i and 10g (light PL/SQL development ability a plus).
• Good understanding of JMS, JDBC, and JTA and their proper use in robust back-end applications and services.
• Experience with ant, maven, cvs and/or svn, and issue tracking tools (JIRA a plus).
• Expertise in the Drools/JBoss Rules platform highly desirable.
• Experience with implementing SOA (Service Oriented Architecture).
• Excellent skills working with XML schema and documents, validation, parsing, and marshalling.
• Experience working with JBoss Enterprise, Tomcat7, Weblogic 8+ and SJSAS/Glassfish enterprise application server.
• Experience developing Java applications on the Amazon Cloud (EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, Route 53 and CloudWatch)
• Comfortable working with Solaris 9, 10, and 11 including the ability to use tools such as grep, sort, and awk to perform troubleshooting including ad-hoc log file analysis.
