Bioinformatics Scientist
Responsibilities:
The individual will be responsible for processing and analyzing BigData from NextGen Sequencing and other high throughput technologies. The individual will identify, develop, and apply software tools for efficient data integration and data mining for diverse biological data types, such as functional genomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics, pathways, and literature data.
Qualifications:
A PhD in genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in computational biology and genomic data analysis is required. The candidate should have a strong interest and innovative ability to explore data and to make novel discoveries. Fluency in Perl, Java, relational databases, and UNIX operating system is required. Expert use of biological sequence databases, as well as in depth knowledge of bioinformatic analysis on the genome scale are also required. Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience in Next-Generation Sequencing technologies and analysis. Familiarity with common statistical packages (e.g., Matlab, SAS, R or similar) is desirable.
