I am looking for a SR Oracle DBA for a 6-9 month contract in Woodland Hills,CA. Phone than in person interview! 

 

 

* Installation, configuration and upgrading database software and tools.

* Understands all current features and evaluate new platform features and determine strategy for the application of new features

* Establish and maintain sound backup and recovery policies and procedures. Create, plan and test scenarios

* Performance analysis (physical database tuning, reorganizations, optimization, optimal hardware environment, capacity planning).

* Setup and maintain documentation and standards.

* Verify/Review project plans and scope of production upgrades, application releases and implementations.

* Create and implement maintenance plans for releases and upgrades.

* Execute physical database changes required by applications

* Develop and Maintain database support scripts.

* Maintain documentation on production database environments.

* Owns the long term vision and evolution of the production database environment, and translates the database architect's strategic direction, into the strategy for their domain

* Drive world-class design and development of database systems for applications that support high volumes, are fast, simple, reliable, distributed, and easy to extend & maintain.

* Works with engineers and architects to improve existing data models, ensure high levels of data integrity, reduce costs, and increase the overall performance.

* Responsible for schema design, analysis, development, troubleshooting of database related issues.

* Assist in the development of and implements standards for database maintenance and configuration.

* Responsible for deploying database objects like tables, indexes, packages and views across multiple environments, coinciding with various product release schedules.

* Designs and develops the security aspects of the databases to protect and maintain the integrity of customer data. Responsible for db user privileges and access controls

* Tune SQL queries and improve database performance for OLTP applications (OEM, Statspack, AWR,etc)

* Automates routine maintenance tasks as appropriate

* Maintain a proactive attitude towards all database related work, improve existing processes, with emphasis on innovation

 

Qualifications:

* 5+ years experience working with Oracle Database Administration.

* Qualified candidates will also express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Proven ability to develop, design and implement architectures with high availability, operations supportability and scalability to support evolving IT organization.

* Ability to work comfortably in highly varying levels of abstraction from business strategy to product strategy to high level technical design to detailed technical design to implementation.

* Proven strong innovative and analytical skill with extensive implementation skills.

* Ability to constantly uptake new technologies, experiment with them and implement them for the benefit of the development organization.

* Experience in Linux, SUN, Net-Apps.

* Working experience with Oracle [9, 11g], Unix/Linux platforms, High Availability/DR, configuration, replication, etc.

* Working experience with Logical Standby Data Guard, Active Data Guard and Golden Gate is plus.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

* 5+ years experience in RDBMS design, principles, procedures, and Oracle database administration.

* Working experience with Oracle [10, 11g], Unix/Linux platforms, High Availability/DR, configuration, replication, etc.

* Strong experience in performance analysis and improvement, capacity management, and automated monitoring.

* Experience in being part of an agile software development organization

* Experience working with high volume customer-facing products

* Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
