Position: Cisco Technical Consultant (CCIE)
Location: 25% remote, 75% travel
Duration 6 month contract to hire or direct hire
NOTE: Need ONLY GC's and US Citizens who are interested in permanent position. NO H1B's and EAD's.
Description
Position Summary:
· Technical Consultants use and gain experience in the technologies required to design, configure, deploy and support the clients Smart Grid solutions.
· The consultant in this position brings to bear their advanced switching and routing experience to support customers and other peer consultants in deploying the solution into new or existing customer infrastructure, which will include Microsoft Active Directory, a PKI environment and an IPv6 connectivity model.
· The solution also includes Cisco network devices including Aggregation Services Routers, Network Switches, Firewalls, Load Balancers and Combined Grid Routers.
· A networking Technical Consultant would provide services to our customers primarily in deployment and operations phases, but pre-sales work involving setup and testing of the solution, is possible.
· They are called on to modify and configure secure interfaces (adapters and SOA web services) using XML, develop technical SOPs for operations and troubleshooting.
· Technical Consultants provide technical training to customer IT personnel.
· The consultant will conduct and support troubleshooting activities and interim changes to the infrastructure to support additional environments or HA & DR.
· Technical Consultants will work with system administrators to determine the proper configuration and sizing of the hardware, networking and application server environment
Specific Networking Specialist skill & abilities include:
· Participate in technical workshops and training; provide input and recommendations regarding technical architecture in support of solution requirements.
· Review and identify appropriate policies to incorporate into Business Solution Requirements and Low Level Design Review Business Solution Requirements and High Level Design with the Client Create High and Low Level Design documents which include selecting appropriate network hardware to support the necessary sizing and quality of service.
· Contribute to PKI Design (Root, Issuing, NDES, Radius, AAA, DHCP) and help troubleshoot Create a Bill of Materials (Hardware including correct ios, bios and nexos , Software, Certificates etc.)
· Install and configure infrastructure equipment and servers (see below)
· Draft tests that help verify the solution meets requirements
Duties & Responsibilities
· Responsible for planning, design, upgrade, and security of an IPv6-based network infrastructure and support for data center infrastructure devices: Cisco switches, routers (ASR, ISR), virtualization, app servers (CNR), and ACE load balancers, ASA Firewalls/VPN.
· Support onsite and in-house technical solutions for projects.
· Provide critical initial configuration troubleshooting support for switching, routing and app server infrastructure
· Communicate both written and verbal activities with customers and Itron Project Managers to meet specified project deadlines.
· Provide targeted technical training to internal and external customers
· Assist in drafting operational and troubleshooting SOPs and test cases
· Employ effective interpersonal communication.

· IEE 802.1X/802.15.4/6LowPAN,, IPv6, TLS, OSPF, DHCP Application Servers:
· Cisco CNR, ISR, ACS; MS NPS, AD, PKI, on Linux or MS Windows Infrastructure:
· IOS on Cisco 6500, 7200, 3900 series, ESX and Nexus Microsoft Office:
· MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, MS Project, Visio
