Job Description:
Client is looking for an experienced VMware engineer to package our distributed application into one or more secure and easy to administer virtual appliances.
- Experience with the latest vSphere technology
- Experience creating VMware Virtual Appliances using VMware Studio and packaging them for hosting by Resilient as well as shipping to customers including scripting installation and setup
- Ability to create a simple web app to configure the virtual appliance without logging into the operating system
- Familiarity with OS and VM configuration and system hardening
- Comfort with the moving parts and securing of Java and Tomcat based server applications
- Knowledge of design and testing Virtual Appliances for monitorability and high availability
- Knows how to engage and choose a hosted vendor for creating and testing Virtual Appliances (No local hardware is available)
- Can create internal and external setup, configuration, and operations guides with assistance from a technical writer
- Ability to effectively transfer knowledge at the end of an engagement
- Hands-on "doer" who can work independently and share results effectively
- Comfort with a startup environment
