System Tester

Elkridge, MD

6 months with 6 month extensions

This position will require an onsite interview.  Must have government project experience and Mainframe testing experience. 

Job Description: 

* Works under the direction of the System Test Manager and System Test Lead to;

* Perform system integration, Functional, regression testing, End to End and data validation/verification testing of new enhancements and modifications to existing systems

Adhere to all established processes and procedures for system test.

* Communicate well with both internal and external customers.

* Use established procedures to document instructions for conducting testing and recording findings.

* Communicate issues identified during testing.

* Provide support for Requirements teams, specifically in the definition of use cases.

* Validate and verify that the system is operating in accordance with system requirements and design specifications.

* Write test plans, test cases and test scripts. Maintain records of test progress, document test results, prepare incident reports and presents results, as appropriate.

Education:   Bachelor of Science or Engineering in any field

Required experience:

* Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills 

* Experience in manual testing of on-line and batch systems within a complex large scale enterprise environment.

*  Experience in creating and executing Test Plans, Test Cases, and Test Scripts.

* Experience in using Rational Suite of tools (RQM, RTC and Req Pro) and documenting Test results

* Experience in testing the content and accuracy of reports based on client requirements.

* Experience with structured Systems Development Life Cycle.

* Experience testing in a high-volume data movement environment.

* Experience developing and documenting test processes and procedures.

* Experience in a technical environment consisting of applications running on IBM Mainframe.

* Experience with TSO/ISPF, File-Aid, SPUFI, CICS, and JCL.

* Ability to write and run SQL queries as part of testing.

* Working knowledge or experience with DB2 relational database structures and query techniques.

* Data mapping and validation experience from source system to target system.

* MUST HAVE government project experience

Preferred experience :

* Experience testing system modifications and enhancements for large-scale human services systems like Client Eligibility or Health Care or both  in a state government environment. The experience must have been for a period of twelve (12) or more consecutive months within the past five (5) years.

* Experience writing and modifying Use Cases.

* Ability to aggressively pursue new solutions and ideas for meeting testing goals.

* Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members.

* Experience in gathering and developing requirements for large complex Enterprise systems.

* Experience in a technical environment consisting of applications running on IBM Mainframe platform.  

*  Experience with Rational Unified Process (RUP). 

* Experience performing requirements traceability.
