Title: Sybase DBA

Location:   NYC, NY

Duration: 6 months

Job Description: 
•       The candidate will be part of team of highly skilled Cross technology infrastructure specialists covering infrastructure technology while being a SME Sybase/SQL Database.  The candidate will be involved in the design, packaging, delivery and support of Sybase/SQL Cross infra for the Americas, primarily focused on activities related to our Cross Technologies Team.  Additionally, after hours and week-end coverage on a rotation basis is within the scope of the role.
•       Participate on Incident Management calls and prove effective at problem isolation and service restoration
•       Review and enhance morning web checkout procedures and publish daily TIS morning Responsible for reviewing daily morning Infrastructure checks to ensure issues are addressed and ready for business.
•       Review and enhance systems monitoring capabilities on the db tier
•       Develop and execute assessments to address performance bottlenecks and other issues that impact service levels.
•       Deliver to plan on Problem Management Actions as assigned
•       Deliver to plan on project tasks as assigned by DB or CTT lead
•       Represent CTT in Daily Production Review meetings as required


Qualifications:
•       Experience with Sybase 15 including replication
•       Sybase IQ & Sybase ASE experience preferred
•       Experience in performance & tuning of OLTP & data warehouse applications
•       Experience with database design & performance tuning
•       Knowledge of MS SQL and/or Oracle RDBMS is a  plus
•       Experience with Linux, Solaris, and/or UNIX
•       Excellent oral & written English communication skills
•       Must be highly organized with ability to work well under pressure; sensitive to risk and controls
•       Experience in project management, technical lead and/or general IT management role preferred
•       Bachelor's degree (4 year BA / BS or equivalent) in Computer Science, MIS, CIS or related field preferred
•       Extensive hands-on experience within the IT industry administering Sybase and SQL DB Application servers in a production environment.
•       Ability to work independently, manages projects, take ownership of tasks and be held accountable for the delivery of high quality products, and customer services.
•       Experience implementing and utilizing Systems Management, Performance testing, and monitoring tools (Splunk experience a plus)
•       Experience with DBMS, Networking, and Server technologies a plus
•       Working experience in a large complex enterprise, preferably Financial Services
•       Excellent communication skills: delivering precise accurate information. Adapting language style to a wide range of audiences.
