Role: Test/Quality Assurance Customer Care Engineer
Duration: 6+ months
Location: Herndon, VA
Rate: $35-40/hr max
Education
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, computer science or related discipline (Masters preferred).
Experience
• 3-5 year's minimum experience as a systems and/or test engineer
• Experience with network protocols including TCP/IP, SNMP, DHCP, IGMP, SIP, SOAP, IMS, VoIP, and TR-069
• Experience with a digital cable head-end (i.e. CMTS, etc.) infrastructure and DOCSIS experience
• Experience testing broadband access network gateways in a customer's lab environment
• Self-starter, detail oriented, and ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment
• Team player with strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills.
• Experience with Cable system technologies a plus
• Experience with HP Quality Center a plus
• Experience with SIPp, Hammer Load Blaster, and iperf tools a plus
Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for test and validation of various Technicolor cable broadband network access and home networking products (e.g. cable modems residential gateways, wireless routers, VOIP devices, etc.) at the customer's site.
The candidate will:
• Run test cases in the customer's lab and accurately document the results. Operate independently as much as possible.
• Represent Technicolor in front of the customer's management and technical resources
• Review product functional specifications and create requirements traceability matrixes to facilitate full test coverage of all features
• Design and develop test plans and procedures to validate product requirements
• Work closely with SW and HW development engineers in Indianapolis and Bangalore, India, to report issues, analyze potential causes, and re-test fixes once implemented
• Perform functional testing with both technical peers and functional end users to ensure the successful launch of product development projects
• Provide clear and concise status reporting on a regular basis for assigned tasks
