Responsibilities:
Software Development
• Provides guidance and mentoring to other developers
• Creates technical designs
• Participates in peer reviews of technical designs
• Conducts and participates in code reviews
• Develops complex software and configuration data using secure coding practices
• Performs comprehensive and quality unit testing
• Ensures that all code, configuration data, and system documentation is accurate, complete, understandable, and adheres to VRS standards
• Address security vulnerabilities
Production Support
• Independently provides production support
• Ensures the reliability and availability of systems and IT/IS services through proactive monitoring and process improvement
• Responds in a timely manner to automated alerts and/or problem tickets to ensure that applications and systems are running successfully and with optimal performance
• Provides production system support outside of normal business hours as necessary
• Work with vendors and other entities as needed in researching and resolving escalated production issues
• Participates in managing production and non-production code and ensuring production code line integrity.
Leadership
• Works with other Technology staff to ensure appropriate integration and security compliance
• Identify potential problems and proposes proactive solutions and options to resolve them
• Provides guidance, technical leadership, and training to less experienced staff,
• Ensures quality and completeness of work products
• Works on multiple, complex and varying technology projects independently
• Performs special assignments
• Develops and recommends enhancements to technical standards, policies and practices
• Ensures major systems implementation efforts do not compromise other VRS systems or services.
• Provides regular detailed, accurate status reports
• Reviews and approves specifications, programming, testing, and documentation
• Works in partnership with the technical teams and business partners to deliver business functionality on time with required quality.
Additional Required Skills
• Able to quickly and accurately assess and understand existing code, recommend resolution approach and resolve coding issues or write new code.
• Possesses and can successfully apply a broad range of expertise of technology principles, best practices and procedures in the SDLC process
• Must be an excellent communicator and be able to produce clear and concise documentation at the detail and summary level
• Must be an independent worker and be able to prioritize own work activities with minimal guidance and coaching
• Must meet deadlines
• Possesses and applies a broad range of expertise of technology principles, best practices and procedures to the completion of difficult and complex assignments crossing multiple functional areas
• Applies comprehensive technical knowledge of Natural/Adabas to the oversight of significant assignments, referring only the most complex technology issues to higher levels
Preferred
• Experience with large, complex, cross-functional applications
• Supports mainframe database and business application services running Software AG environment
• Extensive, recent experience programming in Natural/Adabas environment
• IBM mainframe environment
• System administration, product upgrades, implementation, and performance tuning
• Perform tech support duties for application program Programmers and end-users.
• Experience with Software AG products including Natural and Adabas. Equivalent knowledge and work experience with similar products will be considered
• Strong technical and communications skills, an aptitude for fast learning, and the ability to work well in a team environment
• MS SQL Server experience a plus
• COBOL programming experience a plus
