Duration: 9 Months with possible extensions
Skills: WebSphere, Apache, Jboss and/or Tomcat. (Oracle fusion middleware or weblogic a plus).

Functionality of the job: Member of cross-functional team that provides level II technical support for the service delivery organization. This position is in the web/middleware discipline. Supports existing web/middleware systems and is responsible for leading advanced technical troubleshooting and problem resolution in the middleware environment. Leads advanced troubleshooting calls and drive to root cause resolution; makes recommendation for long-term resolution of problems across the enterprise.
Leads complex initiatives and issues within the middleware functional technical area as well as cross functional areas. Ensures adherence to established middleware technology standards and consults with senior leadership on technology solutions. Works closely with the application development organization and other functional IT areas to determine best practices, tuning, and problem resolution in the middleware space.
Recommends strategies for technical aspects of middleware systems as well as broad system improvements. Recommends strategies for process and monitoring improvement in the middleware area.
Provides technical consulting on the use & integration of middleware and system utilities, tools, and applications in the middleware environment.
Candidate requirements
Heavy experience in web servers and application servers; WebSphere, Apache, Jboss and/or Tomcat. Oracle fusion middleware or weblogic a plus.
Ability to take and interpret java heap and thread dumps.
Administration and configuration of IBM WebSphere Datapower appliances.
Creation of domains, front-side handlers, wsdl installation and updates, firmware upgrades, logging configuration, and backup and restore operations.
Solid networking skills as it relates to web systems design and troubleshooting.
Familiarity with business transaction monitoring tools, such as Optier, a plus.
Ability to interpret and understand complex technical requirements, service impact, and business issues facing internal and external clients.
Java programmings backgrounds a plus.
8+ years technical experience
5+ years in production support role preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or technical degree equivalent work experience
