Job Title: Hadoop Administrator
Location: Chicago, IL
Duration: 6+ months
Job Description:
Client seek a Hadoop Systems Administrator that will be responsible for the enterprise wide administration of the Hadoop infrastructure. Ad minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience required with managed a bid data ecosystem (Hadoop).
Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Installation, configuration, and administration of Hadoop ecosystem
· Implement new Hadoop infrastructure, OS integration and application installation.
· Assist developers with troubleshooting MapReduce, BI jobs as required.
· Cluster monitoring and troubleshooting using tools such as Ganglia, Nagios, and Ambari.
· Manage and review data backups and restores.
· Implement and maintain security as designed by the architects.
· Design and Implement DR and OR procedures.
· Design and develop scalable and custom Hadoop solutions.
· Mentoring team members
Required skills:
· 2 years in-depth experience with Hadoop ecosystem.
· 3 or more years of Linux OS and system management experience.
· Five or more years in at least one scripting language. ( Perl, Python, Java, Shell )
· Hands-on experience with Hadoop stack. ( MapReduce, YARN, Sqoop, Plume, Hive, Pig, Falcon, etc )
· Hands on day-to-day operation of the environment, strong knowledge and deployment experience in Hadoop ecosystem.
· Install OS and Hadoop updates, patches, version upgrades as required.
· Adding and removing cluster nodes.
· Ability to plan, manage HDFS storage capacity and disk utilization.
· Ability to consult and advise a team on best tool selection, best practices and optimal processes.
· Designed and developed scalable and custom Hadoop solutions.
Desired Skills:
· Knowledge of NoSQL platforms.
· Ability to read, understand and build Java code.
· Experience with building, deploying and administering relational databases.

· Successful Hadoop implementation and administration
