Job Description: 

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree

10 years of experience in System Architecture

Lead the design of a new prognostics and vehicle health assessment capability for GETS RM&D.

Assist in the capture and documentation of user stories around the calculation and delivery of vehicle prognostics/health assessments.

Communicate design recommendations to stakeholders.

Document design recommendations and decisions.

Create design documentation, including UML Object model diagrams, sequence diagrams, process flow diagrams, etc.

Evaluate current codebase and DB  architecture. Document areas where improvements in maintainability, execution speed, and throughput can be made. Document legacy components that can be reused/repurposed in new prognostics system.

Recommend software development tools, processes, and techniques to improve team's software quality and speed up team's ability to implement new functionality.

Assist in the production (coding) and testing of the vehicle prognostics/health assessment capability.

 

Skills/Tools/Technology:

Design, Programming

Database Design

Object modeling

System design work, preferably in an R&D setting

Languages: Java, SQL (must be very strong in both of these)

Oracle DB, Eclipse, Jira, Confluence, Gliffy, Visio

Experience in the creation of production, business-critical software

Experience in the creation of RM&D systems/solutions

Experience in DB architecture

Background/expertise in Prognostic/Diagnostics for large industrial assets.

Background/experience in designing and implementing RM&D systems software.

Background in systems architecture and engineering.

Background in software architecture and design.

Strong background in computer science or software engineering.

Experience working in a production software

Assist team in identifying and documenting requirements for Locomotive Health Ranker functionality. Gather requirements from end users (external customers and GETS RM&D), analytic algorithm  authors, IT (deployment, operations and maintenance), and RM&D tools software development leads.

Assist team in identifying and documenting system requirements for underlying prognostics system framework.

 

Participate in stakeholder interviews.

Create/publish electronic requirements documentation for team and stakeholder reviews.

Participate in team meetings and reviews.

 

Assess Current Systems

Become familiar with current codebase, specifically the Anomaly Server engine and Virtual Parameter authoring tool and execution/evaluation engine;  Document learnings.

Create an assessment of the current tools components that can be leveraged. Include a level of effort estimate at any modifications that would need to be made to extend or rework current code to meet  LHR needs.

Report-out to team on build vs. buy.

Design

Create and document a design for the LHR tool and underlying prognostic system framework.

Create/publish electronic design documentation for team and stakeholder reviews: architecture diagrams, object model  diagrams, process flow diagrams, etc.

Assist team lead in populating  the Jira story backlog for the implementation effort.

Participate in team meetings and reviews.
