Position: ETL Architect
Location: Denver ,CO or Dallas, TX
Roles and Responsibilities
The Data Warehouse Architect designs, develops and optimizes data warehouses, with flexible and scalable data and ETL architecture, to support business users and business intelligence (BI) applications.
A typical job description for the Data Warehouse Architect role includes:
- Determines business information needs and identifies system requirements.
- Analyzes business intelligence data and provides reports.
- Acts as liaison between information technology and business units.
- Ensures data accuracy.
- Assesses data extraction, report generation, and bugs appearing in operations involving the data warehouse.
- Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty and 4-6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Performs a variety of tasks.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Organizational Role
Data Warehouse Architect provides functional, technical or process leadership. The organization will depend on this person's management of multiple teams. The Data Warehouse Architect generally is responsible for high complexity and ambiguity.
Data Warehouse Architect Job Responsibilities
The Data Warehouse Architect generally has the following responsibilities:
- Analyzes business intelligence data and makes recommendations for data warehouse growth and integration for the enterprise.
- Works with IT and business customers to develop requirements for designing the data warehouse architecture.
- Provides support and technical guidance to ensure architecture and framework are aligned with BI application needs.
Application Design, Architecture
The Data Warehouse Architect is expected to demonstrate Extensive experience in the Application Design, Architecture competency. To demonstrate Extensive experience in the Application Design, Architecture competency, one should demonstrate knowledge of and ability to utilize application design methodologies, tools and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.
- Develops various, distinct and multiple technical application designs.
- Prepares technical design documents and blueprints for applications.
- Facilitates in application design reviews and walkthroughs.
- Interprets application services such as API; integrates them with technical design.
- Creates and evaluates technical alternatives for complex applications.
