Job Title : Linux Server and OS (Build) Engineer
Location : Phoenix, AZ
Duration : 1+Year Contract
Job Description:
Maintain, build out and enhance infrastructure and application server environment to include Red Hat Linux 6, VMWare and KVM virtualization, Red Hat Satellite, and Oracle RAC with fiber attached ASM disks
Application administration, installation, tuning, and upgrade functions for Linux based tools, including Oracle RAC, JBOSS, Puppet, Bind DNS, Splunk, Apache, lighttpd, Git, Subversion, PHP applications, Java Application, MySQL, Postgress, Postfix, and PatchManager
Ensure compliance with security standards, especially PCI and SAS 70, and assist in audit preparations
Monitor environment and computing resources for reporting and capacity planning
Maintain systems documentation
Perform other duties as assigned
Participant as escalation point for 24x7 operations support Offer of employment with American Express is conditioned upon the successful completion of a background verification check, subject to applicable laws and regulations.
Required Skills:
8+ years in a development or support organization supporting large applications with multiple databases on Linux platforms
Experience in a 24x7, high availability environment required
Enterprise experience with JBoss
Virtualization technologies such as KVM and VMWare
Experience in automation techniques for deployment and management of systems and services
Experience with OpenStack or similar offering
Strong quantitative, analytical, communication and verbal skills with a strong customer service focus
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently, toward assigned goals
Skilled at working well with different staff levels within and out of core competency
Strong design experience with Linux RHEL deployments
Strong experience with Puppet
Collaborate with application development teams and/or development DBA's to review new changes or designs
Pro-actively propose and develop strategic improvements in technical areas of automated monitoring, support and enhancement
Work with cross-functional project teams to resolve technical performance issues/bottlenecks (e.g., network, storage, application)
Strong understanding of networks, security zones, and regulatory requirements such as PCI Educational Requirements: BS Degree in Computer Science or related experience Preferred Additional Requirements: F5 LTM Cisco UCS, Dell and HP Hardware experience; PCI, DSS, NetApp, and vSAN
