Description:
Under the direction of team managers, this position is responsible for the design, implementation, management, and administration of enterprise database systems including the security, quality, recoverability and integrity of data resources. This position provides both guidance to more junior staff and input into database processes and standards and may have responsibility for user administration, database configuration, backup and restore, disaster recovery, deployment, and capacity management activities. This position requires an in depth knowledge of both SQL Server and Oracle database platforms.
 
Model ethical behavior and execute job responsibilities in accordance with Company's core values, ethics, and information protection policies.
Provide database administration for development and test databases, and physical relational databases including software installation, backup, recovery, data scrubbing, performance tuning, physical sizing and monitoring activities.
Lead or participate actively in database requirements gatherings meetings and database review meetings.
Recommend solutions by defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, database security, backup and recovery specifications.
Lead efforts to monitor and tune databases to improve performance throughout the system development lifecycle, including but not limited to load tests simulating catastrophic event scenarios.
Participate actively in the analysis and resolution of issues related to information flow and content with clients and IT management and staff.
Facilitate data modeling studies in coordination with the Architect and enforce enterprise data and database modeling standards.
Install, configure, evaluate, and implement of DBMS software and database tools.
Champion quality service delivery by enforcing and refining organizational standards.
Define and document tasks related to Company's System Development Methodology (SDM) and contribute to the development of corporate data architecture standards and procedures.
Automate scheduled database maintenance and reporting functions using industry best practices.
Provide oversight and guidance to other database administrators.

 
Must have:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science / Information Technology or related field.
Over 8 years of work experience.
6+ years experience with SQL Server 2008 and 2012.
6+ years experience with Oracle version 11g and 12c
Strong performance monitoring and tuning experience.
SQL Server or Oracle certifications also a plus.
Knowledge or experience in Property & Casualty Insurance industry.
Knowledge of Oracle Fusion
Proven interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including technical documentation skills.
Service-oriented, self-motivated, with keen attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks, work in a collaborative team environment; be responsive to project and customer needs, and work under tight deadlines.
Ability to work well within a cross-functional development team building relationships with developers, testers, and release managers in order to collaborate and deliver database services.
Knowledge of database normalization data modeling techniques and experience with database design.
Knowledge of Enterprise Systems Data Management and database best practices.
Advanced knowledge of data manipulation and analysis tools such as Excel, Access, SQL, and SQL Stored Procedures (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL, and similar languages).
Experience with Database Monitoring tools.
Experience in standard administration activities, such as Backup and Recovery, Security and Authentication, and Performance Tuning, Troubleshooting and Replication for both SQL Server and Oracle.
Strong knowledge of creating, executing and maintaining basic database batch processing tools such as Data Transformation Services (DTS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages, and Oracle Data Integrator.
Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products.
Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges) for both SQL Server and Oracle.
Working knowledge or SQL Server and Oracle encryption.
Database capacity planning.
Ability to work as part of a team and provide 24x7 support when required.
Interface with Microsoft and Oracle Corporations for technical support.
Patch Management and Version Control.
