Position Summary
The Client is looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer(PHP, Mongo, MySQL) to join its Silver Spring, Maryland Engineering Teams. This role could also be remote for an exceptional candidate. We are seeking a PHP Developer(Consultant) with demonstrable knowledge of MVC frameworks including Laravel or Symfony and NoSQL databases such as MongoDB or DynamoDB to work within an exceptional engineering team who deliver a variety of digital experiences for Discovery's O&O TV Nets sites, mobiles apps, and global, responsive publishing platforms.
A fantastic opportunity for a PHP Developer to help solve complex but interesting scalability and availability for sites with millions of users each day! You will have the opportunity to work with great technologies in a collaborative environment and gain exposure to new languages and technologies. Within the role you will produce high quality code for a range of leading web products and services. You will be responsible for the implementation of vital software components and build features used by millions of people.
Requirements:
· Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
· Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written English and drive to contribute ideas and share knowledge proactively
· Experience in working in a team and agile development environment
· Expert skills in PHP and MVC frameworks such as Zend, Laravel, Kohana, CodeIgniter.
· Excellent knowledge of relational database systems such as MySQL and experience with or exposure to NoSQL systems such as MongoDB
· Strong skills in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and front end frameworks such as Knockout/Backbone/Angular
Highly Desirable:
· Good understanding of server and cloud computing technologies from providers such as AWS and Rackspace
· Experience with Git/Github or similar DVCS
· Experience in building very high traffic web assets
